Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Following the highly successful line of the OCPA Topical Accelerator School and Workshop, which recurs every two years since first initiated in 2009, we are very pleased to announce that the 8th event in this series will be held from October 15th to 20th, 2026.
The theme of the school and workshop will be “Accelerators for Health”. Through lectures and discussions, participants will gain an integrated understanding of:
· Medical and Biological Foundations: Essential concepts in radiobiology, oncology, medical imaging and clinical requirements for accelerator-based technologies.
· Accelerator Fundamentals and Machine Types: The principles, design and operation of electron linacs, cyclotrons, synchrotrons and emerging compact accelerators for medical applications.
· Diagnostic Imaging: Accelerator-generated X-rays, CT, synchrotron imaging and compact inverse-Compton X-ray sources.
· Cancer Therapy: Electron and photon radiotherapy, proton therapy, heavy-ion therapy, BNCT, beam-delivery technologies, synchrotron microbeams, particle minibeams, and FLASH therapy, and other advanced treatment modalities.
· Nuclear Medicine and Medical Isotopes: Accelerator production of radionuclides for PET, SPECT, diagnostic imaging and targeted radionuclide therapy.
· AI-Enabled Patient Care: AI-based image reconstruction, treatment planning, dose optimization and personalized therapy.
· Future Concepts: Novel accelerator technologies, compact medical sources and emerging diagnostic and therapeutic applications.

Application and abstract
The format of the OCPA Topical School and Workshop series mandates each participant to deliver a presentation of her/his own research. When applying for the School and Workshop, each student and young researcher needs to submit an abstract (150-200 words in English) and a brief self-introduction. Each participant will give a 20 minutes’ presentation at the workshop. The talk may include, but is not limited to, the motivation, status, challenges of your research topic, your technical approach, achievement, and future plans, etc.
