3. Excursions in Xichang

Here are some recommended excursion options inside Xichang you can try.

1).  Qionghai:Qionghai, also known as Dianchi, is located 5 kilometers southeast of Xichang City and is one of the largest lakes in Sichuan Province. The lake is 31 square kilometers, the deepest is 34 meters, and the annual water storage is about 320 million cubic meters. The green water is clear and rich in fish and shrimp. It is a famous natural fishery and water sports ground. Surrounded by mountains and lakes, the trees are green, the environment is beautiful, and the scenery is pleasant. The lake is clear all year round, swimming, boating and fishing in all seasons.

2).  Mount Lushan:Mount Lushan is located at the shore of the Qionghai Sea at an altitude of 2,317 meters and a height difference of 807 meters from the Qionghai Sea. The mountains are beautiful and the ancient trees are towering. It is the natural green barrier of Xichang. There are many kinds of rare animals and plants in the forest (be careful for the naughty monkeys). The Kowloon Hanbai, one of the top ten "Bashua Tree Kings" with a history of two thousand years, has a unique form and is unique in the world. The sound of the aura of Lushan is also praised as the Daojia Mountain. In the depths of the jungle, there are more than ten Buddhist temples and Buddhist temples. The ancient temples are built on the ground, and each is based on the secluded, spectacular, carved and fascinating landscape. Caution: please be careful with the monkeys on the road as they might snatch food from human.

Getting There: Take Line 3 to Panda Avenue Station, exit at A, and then transfer to Bus 198 to the Panda Base Station. Taxi is also avilable.

2).  Sanxingdui Museum:https://www.sxd.cn/

Sanxingdui is an extraordinary archaeological site located in Sichuan Province, China, which has captivated historians and archaeologists worldwide. Dating back over 3,000 years to the ancient Shu Kingdom, this site is renowned for its stunning artifacts that exhibit a unique artistic style and advanced bronze-casting technology. The Leshan Giant Buddha is a monumental statue carved into the cliffs of Lingyun Mountain in Sichuan Province, China. 4).  Dujiang Weir

Dujiangyan is an ancient irrigation system located in Sichuan Province, China, and is a marvel of engineering that has been in continuous use for over 2,200 years. Constructed around 256 BC during the Qin Dynasty under the guidance of Governor Li Bing, this ingenious system was designed to control the waters of the Min River and prevent flooding in the Chengdu Plain, while also providing a reliable water supply for irrigation. Unlike traditional dams, Dujiangyan utilizes a natural approach, with a series of levees, channels, and spillways that work in harmony with the landscape to divert and distribute water. Getting There:There are express trains commuting between Chengdu (Xipu Station 犀浦站) and Dujiangyan (Lidui Park Station 离堆公园站) throughout the day. The journey takes about 30 minutes and costs 10 RMB. You can book the ticket on www.12306.cn.

5).  Jianmen Pass

Jianmen Pass, known as the "Impregnable Pass Under Heaven," is a historically significant and strategically vital mountain pass located in Sichuan Province, China. Situated within the steep and rugged cliffs of the Daba Mountains, this natural fortress has been a critical military stronghold and a key point along the ancient Shu Road, which connected the Sichuan Basin to the Central Plains. The pass is famed for its narrow, winding paths and towering cliffs that create a formidable barrier, making it nearly impossible for invaders to penetrate. Getting There: You can take a high-speed train from Chengdu to Jianmenguan Station, which is the closest train station to Jianmen Pass. There are direct buses from Guangyuan Nanhe Bus Station to Jianmen Pass, which takes about half an hour.
